1. In 1881, the University of Minnesota football team played their first ever game against Hamline University, winning 17-6. This was also the first football game ever played in the state of Minnesota.

2. On November 20, 1919, the Minnesota legislature ratified the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. Minnesota was the 15th state to ratify the amendment.

3. The First National Bank Building, which stands at 332 Minnesota Street in St. Paul, was completed on November 20, 1931. At the time, it was the tallest building in Minnesota and remained so until 1971.

4. In 1979, the city of Duluth experienced its worst blizzard in recorded history. Over 2 feet of snow fell in just 24 hours, and winds gusting up to 90 mph caused massive snowdrifts and power outages.

5. On November 20, 1998, radio host Garrison Keillor announced that he would be retiring from hosting A Prairie Home Companion, a weekly variety show that he had created and hosted since 1974. The show continued on with new hosts until its final broadcast in 2018.
