1. In 1881, the first issue of the Omaha Daily World newspaper was published. This newspaper was known for its progressive politics and strong support for labor unions.

2. In 1903, Nebraska became the first state to adopt a state flag. The flag features a blue background with the state seal in the center and the words "Nebraska" above it and "Equality Before the Law" below it.

3. In 1906, Omaha's Brown Park was dedicated. The park was named after William Henry Brown, the first African American to serve on Omaha's City Council.

4. In 1922, the first radio station in Nebraska, KDKA, began broadcasting in Omaha. The station was owned by the Bee Publishing Company and remained on the air until 1926.

5. In 1970, Nebraska's first state park, Chadron State Park, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The park is located in the scenic Pine Ridge region of western Nebraska and is known for its beautiful forests and rock formations.
