4. On November 28, 1942, the United States Army activated the 101st Airborne Division at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. The division is known for its actions during World War II, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

5. In 1975, Kentucky's largest shopping mall, the Mall St. Matthews, opened in Louisville. The mall features more than 130 stores and restaurants and is a popular shopping destination in the Louisville area.
