1. In 1782, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation, the first constitution of the United States.

2. November 30, 1801 marked the opening of the Brandywine Bridge, the first major bridge built in Delaware. It spanned the Brandywine Creek and helped connect Wilmington to rural areas outside the city.

3. In 1908, a fire broke out in Wilmington's Hotel duPont, causing extensive damage but no fatalities. However, the blaze did prompt the city to adopt new fire safety regulations.

4. November 30, 1954 saw the launch of the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus. The ship was built at the Electric Boat Company in Delaware and made its maiden voyage from Groton, Connecticut to the Arctic ice pack.

5. The Dupont Company, one of Delaware's largest employers and a major contributor to the state's economy, was founded on November 30, 1802 by French-American chemist Éleuthère Irénée du Pont. Today, DuPont is a global corporation with operations in dozens of countries.
