4. In 1961, the Tybee Island Lighthouse was deactivated after more than 100 years of service. The lighthouse had been in operation since 1867, helping to guide ships safely to the Georgia coast.

5. In 1988, construction began on the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The multi-purpose stadium was completed in 1992 and served as the home field for the Atlanta Falcons until 2016. It was demolished in 2017 to make way for a new stadium.
