1. In 1883, the city of Denver held its first professional baseball game, played between the Denver Grizzlies and the Beatrice, Nebraska team. The game took place at the city's old Central Park.

2. In 1934, a record-breaking snowstorm hit Colorado, with some areas receiving up to 48 inches of snow. The storm disrupted transportation and caused widespread power outages across the state.

3. On November 6, 1962, Colorado resident Scott Carpenter became the second American to orbit the earth in the spacecraft Aurora 7. He spent just over five hours in orbit before returning safely to Earth.

4. In 2000, Colorado voters passed Amendment 20, legalizing medical marijuana in the state. This made Colorado one of the first states in the country to allow the use of medical cannabis.

5. In 2018, Colorado elected its first openly gay governor, Jared Polis. Polis, a Democrat, defeated Republican opponent Walker Stapleton in the election, becoming the first openly gay person to be elected governor in the United States.
