1. In 1872, the First Arizona Territorial Fair began in downtown Phoenix. The event, which ran for five days, featured exhibits of Arizona's agricultural, mineral, and industrial resources.

2. In 1927, the first commercial airline flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles was made by Standard Airlines. The flight took two hours and fifteen minutes and cost $30.

3. In 1961, Arizona State University opened the Center for Meteorite Studies, which has since become one of the world's largest repositories of meteorites.

4. In 1994, the Phoenix Suns played their first preseason game at the newly built America West Arena. The team would go on to reach the NBA Finals that season.

5. In 2019, the Grand Canyon Skywalk celebrated its 10th anniversary. The tourist attraction, which was built by the Hualapai Tribe, allows visitors to walk out over the edge of the Grand Canyon on a glass-bottomed walkway.
