3. In 1863, the Democratic Party in Delaware held a convention and endorsed President Lincoln's Emancipation Policy, becoming one of the few slaveholding states to do so.

4. In 1913, the DuPont Company unveiled the first synthetic rubber, known as neoprene, which quickly became a popular material for a wide range of products due to its durability and resistance to extreme temperatures.

5. In 1983, the last toll booth on the Delaware Memorial Bridge was removed, making the once $4 toll-free for all drivers. The bridge, which opened in 1951, connects Delaware to New Jersey and is one of the busiest crossings on the East Coast.
