1) On October 25, 1780, the Battle of Charlotte took place during the Revolutionary War. The Patriot militia, led by William R. Davie, successfully defended the city against the British army led by General Charles Cornwallis.
2) In 1887, the first state fair was held in Raleigh on October 25th. The fair has since become an annual event in North Carolina, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
