1. In 1903, the first edition of the Arkansas Gazette, the oldest newspaper in the state, was published. It was founded by William E. Woodruff, who arrived in Little Rock in 1819 with a printing press and started the paper as an outlet for his political views.

On October 30, 1957, the Central High School Crisis in Little Rock reached a climax when Governor Orval Faubus ordered the Arkansas National Guard to prevent nine African American students from entering the previously all-white high school. The incident sparked nationwide attention and was a key moment in the Civil Rights Movement.

3. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock was established on October 30, 1927, as Little Rock Junior College. It later became Little Rock University, and finally the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1969.

4. On October 30, 1862, the Battle of Mount Elba took place in Cleveland County during the Civil War. Confederate forces led by General James F. Fagan were defeated by Union troops led by Colonel Powell Clayton, securing Union control of the region.

5. The Little Rock Aces, a minor league baseball team, won the Texas League championship on October 30, 1968. The team, which played at Ray Winder Field, was the only Arkansas-based team to win the league championship until the Northwest Arkansas Naturals won in 2010.
