1. Halloween is celebrated on October 31 every year, and Delaware is no exception. In fact, some of the oldest and most famous Halloween celebrations in the country have taken place in Delaware, including the famous "Sea Witch Festival" in Rehoboth Beach.

2. On October 31, 1765, the "Stamp Act Congress" met in New York City to protest the taxes imposed on the American colonies by the British government. Delaware was represented at the Congress by Caesar Rodney, who would later sign the Declaration of Independence.

3. Delaware played an important role in the American Civil War, and on October 31, 1864, a group of Confederate soldiers made a surprise attack on a Union cavalry unit near Laurel. The resulting Battle of Laurel lasted several hours and saw heavy casualties on both sides.

4. On October 31, 1902, a devastating fire swept through the city of Wilmington, destroying over 1,100 buildings and causing over $5 million in damage. The fire was eventually brought under control, but not before it had destroyed much of the city's downtown area.

5. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast of the United States, causing widespread damage and disruption in Delaware and other states. The storm made landfall on October 29, but its effects were felt for several days afterwards, including on Halloween, when many residents were forced to cancel their trick-or-treat plans due to power outages and other storm-related issues.
