1. In 1927, the infamous Arkansas lynching of six black men and circulated photographs of the killings took place, known as the Elaine Massacre.

2. The Little Rock Nine, a group of black students who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 27th, 1957, were escorted by the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army after Governor Orval Faubus tried to prevent their entry.

3. On September 27, 1827, the Arkansas Territory was created. It was initially part of the Louisiana Purchase and became the 25th state in the United States in 1836.
