Although this event occurred in Arkansas, it had significant impact throughout the South, including Mississippi, where similar incidents of resistance to desegregation occurred.

2. Mississippi State University's first African American student, Richard Holmes, enrolled on November 25, 1965. Holmes was one of the first black students to attend a formerly all-white university in Mississippi after the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

3. The Mississippi Burning trial began on November 25, 1964. The trial, held in Meridian, Mississippi, sought justice for the murders of civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner. The case drew nationwide attention and resulted in the conviction of seven men.
